Please share the magazine widely- it is free for everyone to enjoy.
Six dedicated indie sci fi authors and myself spent May co-editing each other’s stories to get them ready to share.
The workflow turned out as I projected, involving under 10 thousand words of reading per person. The admin side went smoothly, and everyone kept to the deadlines, so I am confident I can keep the project going indefinitely.
A note on the cover image- I spent way too much time stressing over the cover, going through multiple versions, even hiring (and firing) an artist (long story, don’t ask). All that brought me back around to my original philosophy. This magazine is a celebration of indie sci fi writers that throws off the 20th century publishing conventions on every level. A bold, simple, minimalist approach that relies on wording, font and layout on a simple black and white cover is my rejection of the arms race around cover art.
June will be dedicated to recruiting authors for the next three editions, so the #2 should be out at the end of July or first of August. If you would like to write for Keystone Codex check out the upcoming themes in this edition or suggest a new one.
Fantastic stories. Really high quality, and I can't wait to read the next one already!
Looking forward to it!
